Air Tanzania to launch Johannesburg flights

Air Tanzania plans to resume flights to South Africa on 28 June, Tanzania’s Citizen TV has reported.

The new flights according to Citizen TV is aimed at attracting South African tourists and business travellers.

The flight schedule will also reportedly connect four major airports in Tanzania with OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg with four direct flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Josephat Kagirwa, ATCL’s public affairs spokesman, confirmed that the four local airports to introduce South African connections are Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar International Airport, Kilimanjaro International Airport in northern Tanzania, and Mwanza International Airport.

According to the airline’s website return tickets are available from $299 until July 15 when prices will increase to $347. 

Flights will initially be operated by a B787-800 until July when an A220-300 will be deployed on the route.
