In addition to familiarisation tours and a dedicated travel and tourism conference with a top-notch speaker programme of industry thought leaders and experts, Connect in the City Live will host a speed networking session connecting hosted buyers with exhibitors split according to region and product interests. Exhibitors will also have an opportunity to educate buyers about their products and destination during dedicated 15-minute time slots.

During Connect in the City Live, participants will be hosted at a gala African Travel & Tourism Awards event, featuring a special category recognising COVID-19 campaigns that focus on reigniting travel – entries for which are open until end June.

“For the Africa Travel Week team, it’s full steam ahead. We are looking forward to hosting a live event and are pleased with the interest we have seen from our hosted buyers to travel to Cape Town and meet their industry partners. Like us, they are thrilled with the prospect of connecting in person,” says Megan Oberholzer, Reed Exhibitions South Africa Portfolio Director: Travel, Tourism & Creative Industries.

“We are conscious, however, that the environment changes very quickly in the COVID era and will keep an open channel of communication with our Connect in the City attendees at all times. We will keep exhibitors, buyers and media appraised of these plans closer to the date.”

Meanwhile, in the run-up to the live event, Africa Travel Week will be hosting a series of virtual masterclasses and events, including a China Market Outlook, How the Pandemic has changed our priorities in terms of Animal Welfare and Tourism; and Marketing, influencers and blogging – what is worth it?
