Kariba Safari Lodge, a brand-new addition to the Zambezi Cruise & Safaris portfolio, will open in September this year in Kariba Town (Mica Point) on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe.
Situated on a forested mountainside with sweeping views over the blue water and the islands in the eastern basin of the lake, this newly built Safari Lodge offers individual Lodges and Suites that are distributed over 33 acres of woodland hillside sloping down to the lake shore and beach area.
The lodge comprises nine individual lodges and eight suites set on various levels amongst the tropical forest – all have en-suite bathrooms and private lake view patios. Ceiling fans, mosquito nets, a mini bar and complimentary tea and coffee facilities will be provided in each of the lodgings.
The main lodge has been built with an elevated deck set against the mountainside where the open-plan lounge, restaurant, outdoor patio and bar is located – all of which claim immediate attention to the awe-inspiring views of the “ocean-like” Lake Kariba.
Additional facilities include a swimming pool and casual bar with a communal boma area. Free Wi-Fi will be available to guests. Kariba Safari Lodge is an ideal conference and wedding venue as it has a spectacular separate conference/wedding venue, also with Lake vistas.
Activities to be enjoyed are either a half–day tour of Kariba to the Dam Wall, Santa Barbara Chapel, Kariba Heights and Mahombekombe Township, a sunset cruise or a half-day guided fishing expedition to catch the famed Tiger or African indigenous Bream (Tilapia) fish.
Access is via the main road from Harare-Makuti for the self-drive or 4×4 enthusiasts and is only 5 minutes from Kariba Dam Wall for those travelling the 3-hour drive from Lusaka. Road transfers are available when combining the Zambezi Cruise & Safaris Lodges and Cruise Boats circuits or a private aircraft charter can be organized from Victoria Falls Airport.
