SA Express has confirmed that it has cancelled all national flights due to operational reasons.

According to EWN News, the management of the airline is currently locked in a meeting to discuss the matter.

SA Express told the news source that passengers who had been affected by the grounding of flights had been notified and alternative arrangements had been made.

It’s not clear when operations will resume.

A source has speculated that the airline failed to pay Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) and Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). This claim is however not verified. Attempts to contact SA Express have so far been unsuccessful.

The company said it could not comment on claims that it owed Airports Company South Africa millions of rand.
