SanParks to advise on VAT Increase – 1 April 2018

1 min read

With less than two weeks until increased VAT charge in South Africa take effect, South African National Parks (SANParks) has issued a statement saying that it finds itself in a somewhat unique situation as the deposits paid by guests are not put to book until they actually stay in the national parks.

Therefore there are complications regarding VAT charges on existing bookings with payments made before 1 April 2018 and stays after 1 April 2018.

“We are in process of obtaining legal and tax advice to ensure compliance in finalising our position on this matter and will make an announcement once this has been completed. Our sincere apologies for the confusion and delay caused,” SanParks said in a statement.
