Hundreds of cases of cholera have been reported in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, in the past three months.
The World Health Organisation confirms the sub-districts of Chipata and Kanyama are the main affected areas. “The coming of the rainy season, coupled with inadequate water supply and sanitation increases the risk of outbreaks in Lusaka and other parts of the country.”
Since the outbreak was declared in October, 547 cases including 15 deaths have been reported.
