According to Jumia, the technology is powered and hosted by Facebook Messenger, and offers Nigerian Facebook users the ability to get their own personal Jumia shopping assistant directly on Facebook Messenger. The technology works by asking customers what they’re looking for and then using their answers to process requests. Users will also be able to track their orders as well as engage with the customer service team.
The bot has also been programmed to remember a user’s previous search history and will use this data to process subsequent orders.
