Effective July 1, the government of Uganda has introduced an online visa application system.

With the introduction of the new system, all travellers wishing to travel to the country will be required to apply for a visa online at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/.

Following a review of the application, applicants will be notified by email on whether or not their application has been approved or declined. If approved, an approval letter will be sent as an attachment on the email. Travellers will then be required to print out the letter and present it together with a valid passport or travel document at the port of entry.

Applications can be done online for the following visas

1. Multiple-Entry

2. Diplomatic and Official

3. Ordinary

4. East Africa Tourist Visa (multiple entry valid for 90 days to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda)

5. Transit

The Uganda Tourism Board has advised that for July only, travellers will still be able to obtain visas on arrival. However, these travellers will have to go through the electronic application process as outlined at the chosen point of entry.
